Humbug tail coat tailoring.

This project was very interesting, and I loved working on the coat. I was able to learn a lot of new soft tailoring techniques.

It started with working on the inner structural layer of the coat. Canvas was put together and pad stitched, tailoring tape and organza were used in the process. Once the inner structure and the outer layers were complete, I started working on putting the coat together. The last steps included making sleeves and putting in the lining, which was quite tricky, as you had to make sure everything was smooth.

Below you can find some progress photos.

Draping and patterning a sash and pants.

Before the designs were completed, I got to work a little bit on my draping and patterning skills. I got to drape and pattern a sash for one of the ministers.

I also made a pattern for mock-up faux 1900s pants from a commercial pattern of pajama pants. I was able to increase the half-girth of the pants to make them look puffier, as well as work on the waist according to the measurements we had. I ended up having to add two pleats on the back to accommodate the hip curve and the waist measurement.
